Koko FitClub A New Generation of Fitness By Traci M. Poole, PharmD

From American Pharmacists Association, Pharmacists.com: It is safe to say that most people struggle with the challenge of maintaining a regular exercise routine. Pharmacists are no exception, despite our thorough knowledge of the health implications and benefits of regular exercise. I have always considered myself an athlete and someone who valued physical fitness, but once I began my career in pharmacy, it became difficult to make exercise a priority. I found myself struggling to manage my time and find adequate motivation to go to the gym. I quickly found that exercise was the easiest thing to neglect. I went from regularly exercising to almost never finding myself on the treadmill and unfortunately, those long hours logged on my feet in the pharmacy didn’t count. As more time passed, I found myself eager to get back into my exercise routine. I began searching for a gym that would provide me with the flexible hours I needed to accommodate my busy schedule as well as have the ability to motivate me to get there, even on the days I was feeling sluggish and exhausted. It was then that I found Koko.

I began searching for a gym that would provide me with the flexible hours I needed to accommodate my busy schedule as well as have the ability to motivate me to get there, even on the days I was feeling sluggish and exhausted. It was then that I found KoKo.
Overview
KoKo FitClub was founded in 2003 (http://franchise.kokofitclub.com/our-team) by a married couple with the same time management and fitness motivation struggles that the majority of us face today. They wanted to provide a place where those with busy, hectic schedules could come and get a quick and efficient workout regularly. With two distinct perspectives in mind, getting back in shape for her and finding the time for him, they set out to create the KoKo Smartraining System. The Smartraining System uses unique total body workouts created by leading fitness experts to tailor your gym experience to your specific desires and needs within a timeframe that is reasonable for everyone.
With customized circuit weight-training programs loaded onto a personal flash drive, known as a Koko Key (http://kokofitclub.com/how-it-works) it is easy to meet your goals. The Koko Key is designed to help you keep track of your progress as your move through your weight-training program. It is plugged into a device on your weight machine where each exercise appears. An explanation of how to complete each exercise safely and accurately is provided and a timing bar on the screen guides you to ensure that you are performing the exercise optimally. It is as if you have a personal trainer for each session and no trip to the gym is the same. Once you finish the workout, the data loaded onto the Koko Key is backed up to your personal website where you can track the amount of calories burned and weight lifted, diet activity points, and various other fitness-related measures.
Personalized workouts
KoKo FitClub is a complete timesaver. The strength workouts are designed to require 30 minutes or less. Each cardio session, which includes both the treadmill and crosstrainer, provides 15 minutes of intense interval training. Five basic personalized plans are offered: weight loss, total body definition, sports conditioning, muscle building, and “fit & flexible.” Embedded within each of these plans is further customization as you are able to choose among several options to meet your specific fitness goals. The company has also begun creating workouts around specific disease states including arthritis, diabetes, and breast cancer.
Unique experience
The experience at KoKo FitClub is totally unique from the typical fitness center. Each FitClub is small, containing only six weight machines, three treadmills and cross-trainers, as well as several yoga mats and balance balls. They are designed to be a serene, calming environment where one can concentrate on the workout without bad music blaring loudly in the background. By being a member of KoKo FitClub, working out has become enjoyable for me again and it no longer feels like a chore. Well, most days! I find myself to be completely motivated by the creative technology KoKo uses and the wonderful staff, and I especially enjoy watching the progress I make as I complete a program.
